Leinster Schools Round 1

  • Graduate Memorial Building Trinity College Dublin (map)

Want to learn more about how debates are judged? Now’s your chance- Leinster Schools’ round is happening next week, on 15th of October!

Leinster Schools is a year-long debating competition for secondary school students, with rounds being held in the GMB on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. While you guys aren’t able to speak in this competition, you can certainly still get involved, as all these debates are judged by college students!

It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in debating, as judging Leinster Schools will help you understand what makes a good speech and how judges think. No prior debating/judging knowledge is needed, as we’ll pair you with experienced Hist members, so it’s a great way to learn the basics or further develop your skills!

If you’re interested in helping out at this, you can sign up to judge by filling out the form below:

Even if you don’t get the chance to fill out the signup form in advance, feel free to come by the Hist Committee room on Tuesday 15th Oct anyway before the rounds start to learn more about judging and get to know other Hist members! If you’ve any questions or want to know more, you can ask our Librarian, Laura Crean (librarian@thehist.com).
