This House Would Not Have Children

By 2050, human society will be at war over water. The climate is in tatters, our cities are densely overpopulated, and resources, natural or otherwise, continue to dwindle. Are there simply too many people? Certain schools of thought argue that existence itself is a burden - is it right to foist this on non-consenting individuals? In short, should we have children?

This week, some of the Hist’s best student speakers will take on a team from the Durham union for a debate that gets at the very heart of what it means to be human. With guests from the worlds of philosophy, science and sociology, this debate will dig deep into a question fundamental to modern society.

The Durham Corresponding Debate. 7.30 PM. The GMB. No kids allowed.
