Our Sponsored Activities

Maidens

Our flagship internal competition is designed as the first introduction and experience that Trinity student have to university debating.

In previous years, firms such as Mason Hayes Currans have sponsored this event, providing merchandise to the semi-finals and as well as the prize to the Maidens Champion, usually a summer internship.

Debates and Guest Lectures

The Hist hosts weekly debates involving guest speaker from academia and business. We also invite many prominent celebrities, politicians and activists to deliver addresses to our members. In the past, we invited world-famous politicians such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, Sir John Major and Winston Churchill. We also have welcomed artists such as Patrick Stewart, Bob Geldof and W.B. Yeats in our Chamber.

Social and Networking Events

We run more casual events each week, from Tea & Toast and panel discussions to Networking events. Our Burke Committee runs Derby’s of Rhetoric and Panel Discussion to promote discourse at any level. Our ents department manages our weekly receptions and other social events, like our yearly ball and Histmas Party. We also encourage members to judge our leinster schools competition which happens weekly.

Competitions

The Hist runs other internal and external competitions, including the Mary Harney’s Women and Non-Binary Competition, as well as the Trinity IV, featuring over a 200 competitors.

The Hist also runs competitions for secondary school students, including the Irish Mace and Girl Maces. In these competition, we are looking to expand the Hist’s accessibility and we would appreciate as much support as possible to fund the inclusion of DEIS schools and schools from outside Dublin.

The Hist looks for like-minded corporate firms to collaborate with. Sponsorship options vary across a numbers of levels, from sponsoring our flagship internal competition, Maidens, to becoming our headline, exclusive sponsor, where we promote you in everything we do. With these sponsorship options, the Hist can do a lot for your firm.

  • Through our 10,000 strong membership base, sponsoring the Hist has the equivalent capacity to reach as many Trinity students as the 50 smallest societies. Furthermore, the Hist is very proud to be as diverse as the campus we reside on., with the society composing of 59 % female students. The society also has a wide reach across campus, with spanning from STEM students to Arts students to Politics and Law students.

  • The Hist manages one of the prominent buildings on campus. We control 4 large rooms on a campus that is starved for student space. Partnering with the Hist gives firms a rare opportunity to have a enduring physical presence on campus and in the past, we have held recruitment and networking events for firms.

    • There is the Chamber, where we host our weekly chamber debate and guest lectures, our Conversation Room, which is newly renovated, with thanks to the College for funding it. We hold our wine receptions there and for more casual events we have the Hist Recreation Room, with couches and snooker tables. Finally we have our resource room, a quiet study space which holds our library.

  • Our social media and online presence, which this website serves as the cornerstone of, is one of the most active on campus, spanning across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even YouTube. We have a 30 % open rate on our weekly emails, which include details on our events, as well as acknowledge of our corporate supporters. We live-stream most of our weekly debates and guest lectures on our YouTube account, getting over a thousand views. Through pop-in banners, water marking, advertisement and even hashtags, your firm and brand can be promoted through all of this.

  • Through our competitive debating activities, the Hist runs two of the largest inter varsity debating competitions in Ireland. Over 200 participants from across Ireland, the UK and Europe compete, offering exposure to young talented students from outside Trinity. We also send delegations to other competitions and branding through clothing and stationary can link your firm to our debating successes.
