Medals for Composition

WHat is a medal in composition

Similarly to the Medals in History, the Medals in Composition can be awarded by the General Committee by opening submissions, which will subsequently be judged by a panel of professors. The winner will be awarded a Medal of the Society, a cash prize, and the Marked Thanks of the Society.

Composition submissions may be any form of composition, including an essay, literary criticism, original work of fiction, poetry, or biographical piece. Former winning submissions include a poem by Thomas Moore and a short story by Bram Stoker.

Short of an unanimous decision from our panel of independent adjudicators, we have decided to give our Silver Medal for Composition for the 254th session to the most highly-scored submission. We would like to congratulate Philip White for his winning submission!
