Earlier today, humans rights lawyer and free speech advocate Stella Assange joined us in the GMB.

Stella Assange’s signature in the Society’s minute book

Stella Assange is best known for her central role in the Free Julian campaign which advocates for the release of her husband and the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange. She first met Julian in 2011 as a part of his legal team. Since then, she has campaigned extensively against his extradition and imprisonment and advocated for free speech and freedom of the press.

She accepted the Gold Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Public Discourse on behalf of herself and her husband, Julian Assange.

Throughout her address and Q&A, Assange spoke about the Free Julian campaign, the WikiLeaks mission, and free speech, as well as touching on her personal story.
